Cancellation Policy
How to Cancel
If you need to cancel your trip, you must send written notification to contact.annaphotos@gmail.com. Cancellations are effective the day the email is received.
Refund Schedule
- 60 days or more before departure: 50% refund minus the deposit.
- 59 days to 0 days before departure: no refund.
Deposits are non-refundable in all cases. Failure to deliver complete payment 70 days prior to the start of the expedition will be considered a cancellation by default and is subject to the penalties above.
Trip Insurance
We strongly recommend Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance to cover unforeseen emergencies (illness, injury, or loss of a family member) that may force you to cancel or leave the expedition in progress. While we do not sell travel insurance directly, we are happy to recommend trusted agencies — just email us.
We are not liable for financial loss caused by events outside our control, including natural disasters and weather-related flight delays. Purchase of trip insurance is the traveler's responsibility.
The Fine Print
Tap any heading to expand. Submitting an application is your acknowledgement of everything below.
All itineraries, activities, and locations listed on the trip page are planned in good faith and represent our intended experience. However, I reserve the right to modify, substitute, or cancel any part of the itinerary at any time — before or during the trip — for reasons including but not limited to:
- Adverse or unpredictable weather conditions.
- Road closures, F-road access restrictions, or unsafe driving conditions.
- Unsafe river crossings or trail closures.
- Volcanic activity, natural hazards, or government-imposed restrictions.
- Safety concerns for the group, as determined by your host.
- Force majeure events beyond our control.
In the event of a change, I will make every reasonable effort to provide a comparable alternative. No refunds or compensation will be issued for itinerary changes caused by conditions outside of my control.
This trip takes place in remote, rugged, and sometimes hazardous natural environments. Activities including but not limited to glacier hiking, river crossings, off-road driving on F-roads, and coastal exploration carry inherent risks.
By joining this trip, you acknowledge and accept these risks. Anna Szécsényi and any associated hosts are not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in activities, adverse weather, terrain conditions, or any circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
This is why comprehensive travel insurance — including adventure activity coverage — is a non-negotiable requirement to join this trip.
Iceland's weather is famously changeable — even in summer, conditions can shift from sunshine to wind, rain, or snow within hours. River levels, road access, and trail conditions can change overnight. The itinerary as shown is subject to real-time conditions, and flexibility is a core part of traveling in Iceland.
If a specific location — for example, a river crossing, an F-road section, or a coastal site — is inaccessible on the day due to weather or safety conditions, we will adapt. This is the nature of adventurous travel, and it is clearly stated here that no refund or compensation is owed for changes resulting from these circumstances.
Each participant is responsible for ensuring they meet the fitness and eligibility requirements listed on the trip page prior to booking. You are also responsible for obtaining all required visas, valid travel and adventure activity insurance, and any medical clearances relevant to your health.
Submitting an application and making payment constitutes your acknowledgement and acceptance of the terms, risks, and conditions described on the trip page and in the full Terms & Conditions.
A note from Anna: I plan every detail of this trip with care, and your safety and experience are always my first priority. Changes to the plan — if they happen — come from a place of looking out for the group, not cutting corners. Iceland rewards flexibility, and some of the best moments happen when the original plan shifts.
If we have to cancel the trip
In the rare event that we cancel the entire trip before departure (due to insufficient bookings, extended force-majeure events like a volcanic eruption or region-wide closure, or a serious host-side medical emergency), you will receive a full refund of payments made to us, or the option of a credit toward a future trip of equal value within 18 months.
We are not liable for third-party costs associated with a trip cancellation on our side — flights, accommodations outside the trip dates, gear purchases, and similar. This is why we require comprehensive trip-cancellation travel insurance to join.
Governing Law
These terms, and any disputes arising out of or relating to your participation in the trip, are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be confirmed — placeholder]. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of [city, country to be confirmed].
